Privacy Policy

Scoutio is a small, independent live-campsite map operated by an indie founder. The service runs on Vercel (US infrastructure) with data stored in Supabase (Postgres in us-west-1). Payments are processed by Stripe. Email is sent by Resend.

• Email address. When you sign up. Used to send magic-link sign-ins, trial-reminder emails, and your receipt after a paid subscription begins.
• Saved sites & saved searches. The campgrounds and map regions you bookmark. Stored on your account so you can find them later from any device.
• Subscription & billing data. Plan, billing period, customer ID, and trial status. Card details are never stored by Scoutio — Stripe holds the card and we receive only the customer ID and subscription state.
• Server logs. IP address, request path, timestamp, and user agent for the requests you make. Used to debug errors and rate-limit abuse. Logs are kept for 30 days.
• Cookies. See the Cookies section below.

• We don't collect your name, address, phone, or date of birth.
• We don't track you across other websites with third-party trackers.
• We don't sell or rent your data to advertisers, brokers, or partners.
• We don't use your data to train AI models.

Scoutio sets only essential cookies right now:

• Sign-in cookie. Keeps you signed in across pages. Set when you authenticate; cleared when you sign out.
• Map theme cookie. Remembers your Topo / Voyager preference so the map renders the way you left it.

We don't set tracking or advertising cookies. If we add analytics later (e.g., Google Analytics to understand which pages campers find useful), we'll show a consent banner first and only load tracking after you say yes.

Scoutio uses the following service providers. Each has access only to the data needed to run their part of the service.

• Vercel — hosts the website and runs the API.
• Supabase — stores your account, saved sites, and subscription records in a Postgres database.
• Stripe — processes payments and stores card details. Stripe's own privacy policy applies to card data: stripe.com/privacy.
• Resend — sends transactional emails (magic links, trial reminders, receipts). Receives your email address only.
• Anthropic — generates the AI Scout Report using Claude Haiku. We send anonymized site summaries from the public dataset; we do not send your account or location identity.
• Mapbox — renders the basemap and serves search suggestions. Anonymous usage analytics per Mapbox's terms.
• Google Analytics 4 — only when you've accepted analytics cookies. Page views, referrer, anonymized IP.
• Sentry — captures runtime errors so we can fix them. Stack traces and request URLs only; not request bodies.

If you're in the EU, UK, or California (or anywhere else with similar law), you have the right to:

• Access the data Scoutio holds about you.
• Correct any inaccurate data.
• Delete your account and your data (account deletion shipping in V1.5).
• Export your saved sites and searches in a portable format.
• Object to analytics tracking by declining the cookie banner.

Email support and we'll respond within 30 days.

Scoutio is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we'll delete the account.

If this policy changes materially, we'll update the “Last updated” date at the top and email anyone with an active subscription. The current version is always at scoutio.app/privacy.
