Terms of Service
How Scoutio works, what we promise, and what we don't.
Last updated 2026-05-10. Plain-English summary. By creating an account or starting a free trial, you agree to these terms.
The service
Scoutio is a live campsite map for federal, state, and dispersed public lands across the western United States. We pull availability from public APIs (Recreation.gov, state-park reservation systems, and others), join it with weather and road data, and display the result on an interactive map. We surface what we find; we do not own, operate, or take payment for any campsite reservation.
Your account
- You must be 18 or older to create an account.
- Provide a real, working email address. Magic-link sign-in depends on it.
- You're responsible for everything that happens on your account.
- One person, one account. No sharing accounts to bypass usage limits.
- You can delete your account at any time from your account page. Deletion is permanent, cancels any active subscription with no future charges, and removes everything we have on you (saved sites, preferences, attribution).
Acceptable use
Don't do any of the following:
- Scrape or bulk-export Scoutio data through the website. The campsite data we surface comes from public sources; if you want it, go to those sources directly.
- Resell, repackage, or redistribute Scoutio's output as your own product.
- Use Scoutio to train AI or LLM systems without written permission. The Scout Report outputs are copyrighted.
- Try to overwhelm the API, fingerprint other users, or bypass paywalls.
- Use Scoutio for any unlawful purpose.
We can suspend or close any account that violates these rules. We'll try to warn first when it's borderline.
Subscription, billing, and refunds
Scoutio Pro is a subscription. Pricing as of 2026-05-10: $5/month or $48/year, with an optional launch-offer rate of $36 for the first year, available to the first 500 annual subscribers through July 1, 2026 (whichever comes first).
- Free trial. Each new account gets a 14-day free trial. A valid card is required at signup; the card is not charged during the trial.
- First charge. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your card is charged the plan price on day 15. Annual subscribers are charged once for the full year.
- Renewal. Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period. Monthly plans renew monthly; annual plans renew annually.
- Cancellation. You can cancel anytime from your account page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep access until then.
- Refunds. We don't issue refunds for partial billing periods (e.g., if you cancel a monthly plan halfway through the month, you keep access for the rest of that month and won't be charged again, but you don't get half your money back). For annual plans, contact support within 30 days of the renewal charge if there's a billing dispute we should look at.
- Price changes. If we change subscription prices, we'll email you at least 30 days before the change takes effect. You can cancel before the new price applies.
Data accuracy
Scoutio aggregates third-party data — Recreation.gov, ReserveCalifornia, AZStateParks, Oregon SP, Washington SP, Utah SP, CPW Shop, the National Weather Service, NASA FIRMS, USFS Motor Vehicle Use Maps, and OpenStreetMap. We poll these sources frequently but cannot guarantee real-time accuracy. Always verify availability with the operator before you drive somewhere.
Disclaimers
Scoutio is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee:
- Availability data is current to the second.
- Every campground in the western US is indexed.
- Weather, road, or wildfire data is suitable for any specific decision.
- The site will be available without interruption.
You are responsible for your own outdoor decisions, including travel safety, weather preparedness, and confirming reservations.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, Scoutio's total liability for any claim arising from your use of the service is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
Termination
We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or where required by law. You can stop using the service at any time. Active subscriptions are refunded pro-rata only when we terminate without cause.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms materially, we'll update the “Last updated” date and email anyone with an active subscription. Continued use after the effective date counts as acceptance.
